A novelist, screenwriter and actress, Anne Berest has published several novels of note including “The Postcard”, winner of the Renaudot High School Students Prize and the American Goncourt Prize. Alongside her literary works, she writes screenplays for film and television. She co-created and wrote the series Mythomaniac with Fabrice Gobert, broadcast on Arte from 2019 to 2021. She has also collaborated on several feature film screenplays, among them Valérie Donzelli’s Just Love!, Zabou Breitman’s Paris etc., Mona Achache’s Valiant Hearts, Audrey Diwan’s Happening (winner of the 2021 Venice Film Festival Golden Lion), Arnaud Desplechin’s Two Pianos and Rebecca Zlotowski’s A Private Life. In 2022, she adapted “Gabriële”, a novel co-written with her sister Claire Berest about the artist companion who played a pivotal role in Francis Picabia’s Dadaist approach, for the TV movie Gabriële Buffet-Picabia, the Woman with the Erotic Brain, directed by Marthe Le More. She is currently co-writing the screenplay for the film adaptation of Émile Zola’s “Nana” with Olivier Dahan.
