Matthew Bright
Born in the USA, Matthew Bright began as a screenwriter by co-writing Richard Elfman’s cult Forbidden Zone. In the 1980s, he became a full-time screenwriter and several of his scripts were brought to the screen. Thanks to the support of Oliver Stone, amongst others, he developed his first feature as director, Freeway, a very free adaptation of the fairy tale “Little Red Riding Hood”. The film achieved great success and received three awards at the 1997 Cognac Film Festival: Grand Prize, Best Actress Prize for Reese Witherspoon and Critics’ Prize.
