Juan and Marcos, two friendly but small-scale scammers from Buenos Aires, meet when they are preparing to commit the same burglary. For twenty-four hours, they team up to steal a sheet of nine extremely rare stamps called the Nine Queens. They hope to resell them to a Venezuelan collector. To carry out their affair, they call on Valeria, Marcos’ attractive sister.

Fabián Bielinsky (1959 – 2006)
Born in Buenos Aires, Fabián Bielinsky studied at the Argentine National Cinema Institute before working as an assistant director for several big names in Argentine cinema, including Miguel Pérez, Carlos Sorín and Eliseo Subiela. He also taught film production and film analysis. In 2000, he wrote and directed his first feature, Nine Queens. The film was both a public and critical success, winning amongst other awards the Grand Prix in France at the 2002 Cognac Thriller Film Festival. Three years later, he made the crime film El Aura.
