1986. Maria, a Guatemalan revolutionary activist, has been exiled in Mexico for years where she continues her political action. As her 10-year-old son comes to live with her, she will have to make a difficult choice between her role as a mother or that of an activist.

César Díaz

Born in Guatemala, César Díaz studied in Mexico and Belgium before joining the Fémis script workshop in Paris. He has been an editor for more than ten years, both fiction and documentaries, and began directing with the documentaries Why Do Humans Burn? and Territorio Liberado, both presented and awarded at several international festivals. In 2019, he launched into fiction with Our Mothers. Mexico 86 is his second feature film.
