Haifaa AL-MANSOUR

The lifeless body of a teenage girl is discovered in the desert. When no one claims her for fear of bringing shame upon her family, rookie officer Nawal Al Saffan gets obsessively involved. Despite her male superiors’ desire to close the case and the resistance of a society where women have learned to hide themselves to ensure their safety, Nawal is determined to identify the body and uncover the truth.

Haifaa Al-Mansour

Haifaa Al Mansour is the first female filmmaker in Saudi Arabia. She finished her bachelor’s degree in Literature at the American University in Cairo and completed a Master’s degree in Directing and Film Studies from the University of Sydney. Her directorial feature debut, Wadjda (2012), won many prizes in festivals around the world and was also nominated for the Bafta Award for Best Film Not in the English Language. Unidentified is her fifth film.
