Gus Van Sant

Born in Louisville, Kentucky, Gus Van Sant earned a bachelor’s degree from the Rhode Island School of Design. After spending two years working at an advertising agency in New York, he moved to Portland, Oregon, where he devoted himself to directing and producing, while also developing a multidisciplinary artistic practice including painting, photography, and writing.
