Wei Shujun
Born in 1991 in Beijing, he began his career in film as an actor at age 14 and graduated with a master’s degree from the Communication University of China. His three previous films were all selected at the Cannes Film Festival: On the Border (short film, special jury mention at the 2018 Cannes Film Festival), Striding into the Wind (official selection at the 2020 Cannes Film Festival) and Ripples of Life (2021 Director’s Fortnight). Only the River Flows is his third feature film.
